In search of a decent macro lens for Cannon Rebel XT?
I need a lens to photograph highly detailed miniatures usually an inch to three inches high. Need work on a range of a few centimeters to two meters of the object, for a small detail or a small unit in several pieces. I'm trying pick up the terminology, but I'm still lost trying to choose a lens. I'm debating in "EF f/2.8 Macro USM S60mm the f/2.8 Macro USM EF100mm (this is pushing my price range but I will get what is the best option) and the Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 DC IF Macro for Canon digital SLR cameras. I've looked but I'm Tamron Leary of "getting what I paid" or have any comments Great or very bad reviews. If anyone has the thumbnail picture or know that your glasses like me any suggestions or recommendations for my needs. From the Rebel XT EF-S mount and its themes are not going to be moving, the EF 60 mm f/2.8 Macro-S USM lens is a great choice. The EF 100 mm f / 2.8 is a little better if you enter the macro of something that can get scared if you come too, such as insects, 180 mm f/3.5 L but the best is why, but expensive. If you really want details, see the MP-E 65 mm f/2.8. You can get five times its size with the lens. So you can actually see some details. It only through the manual focus and unlike other macro lenses (50mm, 60mm, 100mm, 180mm), you can use to more than just macro shots. The objective Sigma is not a true macro lens. You can focus a little closer, but can not get 1x-size or have the flat image plane. In addition to a macro lens, you probably need to get a good sturdy tripod and a cable or other IR remote for the Digital Rebel XT.
