Hello! I am assuming that these are both point and shoot (P & S) cameras. Yes? While these are two premium brands of cameras (including P & S) is just the nature of P & S cameras were hard to get high quality photos in low light. Its electronics are not as sophisticated as larger digital SLR and their sizes are small processor – which can not store the same information density as the larger cams. They also have little flashes – so that is not capable of launching more light to improve the process of capturing images. One thing you can do to give a fighting chance to improve quality in low light is to use a tripod. There are many more likely to improve low-light blur. The tripod (or monopod) would help to take that issue off the table. If the cameras have a night "or" Night Portrait "mode, have you tested to see if that helps? Since you are playing with digital, and therefore do not spend money on film, they also experience using "Portrait" mode. In portrait mode the camera usually opens aperture to achieve a depth of field (for example, make the largest aperture setting to let in more light). Try using it (also with camera stabilization device) to see if that helps everyone. At some point, if you are serious about simply capturing memories vs photographer Fun in snapshots, thinking about moving to a digital SLR.
